Jesus is my Rock, my Foundation. He is with me through the storms of life.

I just came across this devotional online at and it kind of fit perfectly into life around me right now, and reminded me of how strongly I am grounded in my faith. I wanted to share it with you.

Luke 6:47-48 – Weathering The Storms

Bible Verse Of The Day

Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
Luke 6:47-48 (ESV)

If you grew up in the church, you probably heard the parable of the man building his house on the rock and the man who built his house on the sand when you were in Sunday school.  We can often focus on the foundation of the man whose house was built on the rock.  He obeys the words of Jesus and his house stays up. But, we tend to ignore that this man does go through the storm. Both of these men go through the same storm, but there is a different outcome for these men.  The only difference is their foundation  We can learn a little nugget of truth from this parable.  We learn the Christian life isn’t about everything being great and not having any storms. The Christian life is about weathering the storms with Jesus as our foundation.  Jesus never said that the man who does his words won’t have any problems in life.  He says that the man who does his words will be able to make it through these problems because he has Jesus as his foundation.

What or Who is your foundation during the storms of life?

I am grounded in my faith, and I will never turn away from God. Though life can often bring difficult situations, the only way to make it through the tough times is to lean on the Lord. He will always be with you, even in your darkest hour, He will never leave. When I was a little girl, I went in front of our entire church and sang “I shall not be moved,” and it has stuck with me to this day.

I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

God Bless.

Rainy Sunday, Sunny Monday… for now.

After living in Florida for two years now, I’ve come to understand the weather here is rather sporadic and for the most part, unpredictable. 100 degrees one day, 70 degrees the next, it’s often difficult to prep for what each day will bring. Summer here in this warm, tropical climate brings some of the most amazing thunderstorms I have ever seen, and of course, hurricanes.

Living on the Gulf Coast has its perks. Beautiful views of the water, beaches close by to relax at, and the slight feeling of being on vacation 365 days a year. Living on the coast, as well as on a peninsula surrounded by bayous, also has its disadvantages. Prone to high water levels and and low lying land, the area where I live in particular does not stand much of a chance in a tropical storm/hurricane.

Tropical Storm Debby has been brewing out in the Gulf of Mexico for some time now, and yesterday the Gulf Coast of Florida really took a pounding of heavy rain, flooding, thunderstorms, and tornadoes. I have never been in rain like that…it POURED for almost a day. This is the end of my road…

…and that is a car by the stop sign stuck in the water up to its windows.

Every route into town from behind the bayous was flooded, and very large SUVs could barely even make it through. But I soon found out that even making into town was useless…because the bayou there and the intense rain had flooded downtown as well. But that didn’t stop some people from getting around…

Well as the title of this post suggests, it has been a Sunny Monday…for the most part. Aside from the light sprinkle, the day has been filled with on and off cloudiness and constant, strong winds. With the area still under a tropical storm warning and a tornado and flood watch, it is obvious that Tropical Storm Debby is still lingering in the Gulf, and has now decided to make her away across Florida by the end of the week.

Hooray. So… it was a rainy Sunday and a sunny Monday… for a while. It’s raining now.

Please pray for the safety of everyone in the path of the storm, and also for those who have already been affected.

Hello world!

The last few months of my life have been, let’s say, eventful. I have recently become a part of the Twitter world, which is a whole new world in itself, that somewhat allows us to be a part of the lives of our favorite celebrities. I have also joined the YouTube community, where my very first video has surprisingly been widely accepted with almost 2,000 views. Now I’ve chosen to start my own blog to sort of share my life even more. But why the sudden jump into the social media world you wonder? Well, please allow me to explain.

To start with, let me give you a little background information on me. I am 21 years old and a full time college student and working as a personal assistant and nanny for multiple families to support myself. I am an active member of my church where I teach Sunday school in the preschool department each week and attend service afterwards. I am a Christian who loves Jesus with all my heart and believes in the plan God has for my life. I was raised in a Christian home, so it has always been a part of my life, and to this day I choose to live in a way that is pleasing to God to the best of my ability. I am nothing without Him, and I am everything because of Him. God has blessed me in so many ways, and I want to share His love with everyone around me. I have decided to pursue a life of ministry, and I couldn’t be more excited for the path God has prepared for me to do His work.

I believe that in order to have a close relationship with God you must be close to Him in prayer. Pray about everything, all the time. Someone once asked me when was my “time” I spoke to God, and it really made me think. I realized that I do not have a specific “time” I speak to God, but instead I speak with Him constantly throughout each day. Every action of mine I think “what would God think of this” and I always try to pray with Him about it. He’s always with me, and always giving me strength, our relationship is a necessity in my everyday life.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

So, back to why I joined the social media world in the first place. Well, I just happen to love Tim Tebow…but who doesn’t? Okay… I began watching him play when he was a Junior at University of Florida and I was just immediately drawn to him in a way I really cannot explain. I know it sounds crazy, and every other girl probably thinks the same thing, but I honestly believe in my heart I have some connection to Timmy. He is just an amazing guy with a great heart and he loves the Lord, which is what is most important. So… I continued to watch him in his football career, and when he was drafted to the Broncos, I joined twitter so I could try and get in touch with him.

I prayed continuously for an opportunity to meet him. In February of this year I learned about an event Timmy would be at in March, and immediately I began to pray that if it was God’s will and He wanted me to meet him, then He would open the doors for it to happen…and that was the first time God blessed me with an opportunity to meet Timmy. This is my YouTube video I was telling you about earlier…

Well…in April Timmy hosted the Second Annual Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach. Once again…I began to pray that if it was God’s will He would open the doors for me to meet Timmy at the event…and that was the second time God blessed me with an opportunity to meet Timmy. Here is our picture from that day…

After seeing Timmy again at his golf tournament, I prayed everyday that God would just lay me on his heart that he would know me and remember me if I had the opportunity to meet him again. Well, believe it or not…just the other day I heard of an event Timmy was going to be at in Orlando. I began to pray that once again, if it was God’s will I would have the chance to meet him…and that was the third time God blessed me with an opportunity to meet Timmy. Amazingly…Timmy looked at me and immediately recognized me…and told me how great it was to see me again! Unfortunately, I do not have the picture we took together yet, but as soon as I get it it will be up on here! God is so GREAT.

I guess what I’m getting at with all this is I joined Twitter to get in touch with Timmy, I joined YouTube to share my experience of meeting Timmy, and now I’m starting a blog to further share my stories and begin my journey ministering to people (:

These events meeting Timmy really opened my eyes to just how AMAZING God really is. Things just do not happen by chance…everything has a purpose and plays a role in God’s plan…and I know my meeting Timmy was because God allowed it to happen. Do I know what the purpose of it all was yet? No, but I have faith and believe that God knows the desires of my heart and has great plans for my life. I will forever place my trust in Him, and know He will direct my path. You have to have FAITH.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:24
